Our Fire Station

The Wallowa Lake fire station is a two-story steel structure at 60000 Mt. Howard Lane, just behind Heidi's Gift Shoppe. It is available for community events and meetings. To schedule an event, contact Fire Chief Jeffrey Wecks at wlrfpdchief@gmail.com.

Built in 2003, the 3,300-square-foot station houses a fire engine provided under contract by Joseph Fire Department (for more on the engine, click on the "Engine 3" tab above). In the past, the station has been the home for other firefighting vehicles.

The main floor includes three apparatus bays, each with an electrically operated rollup door, plus a meeting room/office, restroom, kitchen and tool room. In case of a major emergency, the station could be pressed into service as a command center since a newly installed generator could provide electricity in case of a power interruption.

Upstairs is a loft used for storage.

Firefighters' personal protective gear hangs on racks just behind the engine, ready to be donned in seconds
